LET ME GIVE YA THE LOWDOWN ON
My friends call me “KP” — which almost makes me want to say, “What’s the stitch?” (If you know, you know. 😉)
I’ve always been drawn to creativity — inspired by everything from my grandma’s piano playing to my audiologist (who’s also a photographer!). Being Deaf shapes how I see the world, helping me focus on the small, powerful details others might miss.
My creative journey started with graphic design in high school. Since then, I’ve worked with nonprofits, interned at Catapult Creative, and held design roles at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Marion Technical College, and the Dayton Art Institute.
Along the way, I picked up a camera — and never put it down. I specialize in theatre, street, portrait, and lifestyle photography, capturing raw, in-between moments. I also work in video, with highlights like the projection film for Ride the Cyclone and the Jim Dwyer Poetry Loft Session, blending visual storytelling with heart and intention.
Outside of creative work, you’ll usually find me at the gym, curled up with a good book, collecting Disney pins, catching a local theatre show, or geeking out over new tech with friends (and pets).
I’m a curious, big-hearted creative who sees the world a little differently — partly because I’m Deaf with bilateral cochlear implants, and partly because I’ve always been drawn to the in-between moments: the quiet glances, subtle shifts, and stories that unfold in the details. I’m someone who finds joy in little things: deep conversations, random bursts of laughter, cozy bookstores, and a really good playlist.
Creativity isn’t just what I do — it’s how I connect with the world. Whether I’m designing a visual identity, capturing the energy of a live performance, or piecing together a story in the editing room, I’m always chasing that spark — the feeling that something real is being seen, felt, and understood. My work blends design, photography, and video, with a focus on storytelling that moves people.
As a professional creative, I’ve had the privilege of working at the Dayton Art Institute, Marion Technical College, and Berkeley Repertory Theatre — helping shape everything from print to digital campaigns, and videos. My photography work includes portraits, street scenes, and theatre productions, with local features like Beavercreek Community Theatre, Dayton Performing Arts Alliance, the Dayton Theatre Guild, and Sinclair Community College Theatre, where I also serve as a DASL (Director of Artistic Sign Language). Highlights from my video work include the projection film for Ride the Cyclone at Sinclair and the Jim Dwyer Poetry Loft Session, a soft-spoken video series blending poetry and visual storytelling.
At the heart of it all, I care about crafting work that’s honest, human, and full of heart — the kind that lingers in the quiet moments and sticks with you long after.
When I’m not behind the camera or deep in a project, you’ll probably find me at the gym, curled up with a book, collecting Disney pins, enjoying a local theatre show, or geeking out over the latest tech.
I love hanging out with my friends.
whether it's grabbing lunch, sharing jokes (theatre, inside friend circle, and dad jokes), having get-togethers, going out for drinks, or enjoying karaoke and local theaters. 💜
I’m a total bookworm! A Court of Thorns and Roses is my favorite fantasy series — I get completely hooked and can’t put a book down once I start.
Right now, I’m reading Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros.
I love coffee — especially cold brew, iced vanilla lattes, and iced caramel lattes from local gems like Ghostlight Coffee and the Coffee Hub!
As Lorelai Gilmore would say:
"Coffee-coffee-coffee is a saying. Like an exaggeration. It's a funny, desperate cry for caffeine. It's just my thing." 😉
I’m always listening to music of every genre — whether I’m working, at home, or belting out some questionable car karaoke by myself.
