Let’s Start with an Introduction

Hey, I’m Kirsten — and I’m Glad You’re Here

Welcome to the blog. I’m not sure how you ended up here — maybe you’ve seen my theatre photos, maybe someone sent you a link, or maybe you’re just curious. However you got here, I’m really glad you found your way.

I’m Kirsten, a Deaf creative based in Ohio. I do a wide range of creative projects, and I use all of it to tell stories.

I was born profoundly Deaf and wear cochlear implants, which help me navigate sound, but honestly, I’ve always felt most at home in the visual world. I notice light. I pay attention to gestures, body language, and the quiet in-between moments. That’s a big part of why I do what I do and why I care so much about capturing things that feel real and honest.

This blog is a space where I’ll share the parts of my work (and life) that don’t always make it into a portfolio: behind-the-scenes stories, helpful tips, creative process reflections, and the occasional life update or ramble. Some posts will be thoughtful. Some might be chaotic. But all of them will be me.

And just so this doesn’t feel like a stiff “About Me” bio, here are a few fun facts so you can get to know me a little better:

A Few Fun Facts About Me:

  • I didn’t grow up around theatre. I discovered it later in life, and now I can’t imagine not being around it.

  • I’m a former band kid — I played marimba in high school.

  • I’m Deaf and wear cochlear implants, but I rely way more on visual cues and vibes than sound.

  • I drink iced coffee year-round, even in the dead of Ohio winter. (My current coffee obsession is cold brew caramel coffee!)

  • My favorite editing snack? Ritz cheese crackers. Always.

  • Yes, I absolutely count tech week as cardio. 😉🤣

  • I love reading books! there’s always at least one in progress (and usually three I’m pretending I haven’t started yet).

  • I believe in art that feels human — a little raw, a little messy, and full of heart.

If you’re a fellow creative, or someone who just likes looking at pretty photos and reading honest thoughts, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

Let’s make something beautiful.
